Mick Mars hasn’t held back regarding his departure from Mötley Crüe, whether it’s through his ongoing legal battle with the band, where he claims they tried to “take [his] legacy away,” or his allegations that they have sought to replace him since 1987.
Now that Mötley Crüe has officially replaced him, Mars has shared his thoughts—and surprisingly, they’re quite positive.
In a recent interview with Guitar World, Mars expressed his feelings about long-time friend John 5 stepping into his role. “I’ve never disliked John; I’ve always liked him and still do.
He’s been a really good friend of mine for a long time,” he stated. “So I think they’ve made a very, very wise choice with John.”
John 5, known for his work with David Lee Roth and Marilyn Manson, confirmed that Mars reached out to him with messages of encouragement when he took over as the band’s guitarist.
Reflecting on their relationship, John 5 shared, “When I was announced as the guitar player, he was one of the very first texts that I got. He said, ‘You’re going to kill it.’ It’s good. It’s not like it’s some stranger coming in. We have a great respect for each other.”
