British rock icon Keith Richards recently spoke about the legendary rivalry between The Rolling Stones and The Beatles, adding a surprising twist: he believes John Lennon and George Harrison could have fit right in with The Stones.
In an interview with The Telegraph, Richards reflected on their shared journey through the ‘60s, describing how both bands emerged from similar influences and shared a deep appreciation for the same music.
“I don’t think John Lennon would have had much problem fitting into The Stones,” Richards explained, “or George, if you can imagine that sort of thing happening.”
Richards went on to discuss the unexpected relief he and The Stones felt when they first heard The Beatles, realizing there was another band in England on a similar path. “Within a few months, that track was the main track,” he added, reflecting on how both groups helped shape the music of their generation and beyond.
