Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker is returning to BBC Radio 6 Music for a special, one-off festive broadcast on December 21, when he’ll host a Solstice Service in place of Iggy Pop.
Cocker, known for his deeply distinctive British drawl, told NME that he feels honoured to sit in on a show on “the darkest day of the year.” Looking ahead, he added, “I will be bringing some light with this special, one-off edition of Jarvis Cocker’s Solstice Service. Be of good cheer!”
This isn’t Jarvis’s first time on BBC 6 Music — in fact, from 2010 to 2017, he hosted Jarvis Cocker’s Sunday Service, a weekly show where he shared not only his favourite songs, but also his quirky opinions on life and culture.
Beyond radio, Cocker’s recent year has been busy. He recorded a special Shipping Forecast in honour of its centenary, just days before Pulp played a secret set at Glastonbury. Meanwhile, Pulp themselves are riding high: their comeback continues, and they’ve been named one of 6 Music’s Artists of the Year for 2025.
As part of their return, Pulp will play a major outdoor show at Wythenshawe Park in Manchester on August 28, 2026, which the band says “is likely to be our only major UK headline concert” next year.
