David Byrne has expanded his 2026 touring plans, adding a significant run of new dates to support his latest album, Who Is the Sky?. The newly announced North American shows begin with two nights in Knoxville, Tennessee, on March 26 and 27. From there, Byrne will travel through major cities including Las Vegas, Houston, Phoenix, Nashville, Baltimore and others, building momentum through spring.
The tour will then leap across the Atlantic. Byrne’s European summer schedule starts June 12 in Oslo, Norway, and continues through the season, ending July 24 at the Latitude Festival in Suffolk, England. These dates come in addition to previously announced shows across Australia, New Zealand and other international markets, turning 2025–2026 into a comprehensive global campaign for his new work.
Byrne’s concerts are widely regarded as immersive art experiences rather than simple live shows. His vision threads together music, choreography, visual installations, theatrical movement and a shifting stage environment. He has discussed drawing inspiration from choreographers such as Pina Bausch, using projections and staging to carry the audience through changing emotional landscapes: forests, city streets, deserts, even lunar dreamscapes, each tied to the mood and meaning of individual songs.
The “Who Is the Sky?” tour features a mobile ensemble of 13 performers — musicians, dancers and singers — many of whom previously worked with Byrne on his acclaimed American Utopia production. The result is a hybrid of technical precision and spontaneous warmth, where ambitious set design meets intimate performance.
With its expanded schedule and multi-continent reach, the 2026 tour reinforces Byrne’s commitment to innovation. It offers fans across the world a chance to witness a constantly evolving creative force, still pushing boundaries decades into his career.
