Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has once again made it clear he has little interest in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, responding with trademark sarcasm after seeing where the band currently sits in the Hall’s fan vote rankings.
The singer reacted after an Oasis fan page shared a screenshot of the current leaderboard for the 2026 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame fan vote, where the Manchester band appeared far behind several other nominees, including Mariah Carey, Shakira, and Phil Collins, who was reportedly leading the vote.
Rather than urging fans to vote, Gallagher delivered a sarcastic message on social media.
“I’d like to thank all the people who haven’t voted for us from the bottom of my heart,” he wrote.
He followed it with another blunt remark aimed at fans who had supported the band in the poll.
“And to all the people who voted for us — sit down.”
Gallagher’s Longstanding Disdain for the Rock Hall
Gallagher’s comments are consistent with his long-running criticism of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Over the years, the outspoken singer has repeatedly dismissed the institution and questioned its relevance to rock music.
In earlier remarks, Gallagher openly mocked the idea of Oasis being inducted.
“It’s like putting me in the rap hall of fame… it’s all a load of bollocks.”
He has also previously written online:
“Fuck the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame… it’s full of bumbaclarts.”
According to Gallagher, he doesn’t see the award as meaningful validation of a band’s legacy.
“I don’t need some wank award by some geriatric in a cowboy hat.”
Oasis’ First Year of Eligibility
The nomination marks the first time Oasis have been eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ballot. Artists become eligible 25 years after the release of their first commercial recording, making the band newly qualified for consideration.
Despite their legendary status in British rock, the band has so far attracted around 109,000 votes in the fan poll, leaving them trailing behind several other artists in the race for induction.
This comes despite the band’s enduring popularity and massive touring success. Oasis reportedly sold more than 2.2 million tickets on their most recent world tour, highlighting the continued demand for their music decades after their breakthrough.
Not the Only Rock Star Critical of the Rock Hall
Gallagher isn’t the only rock figure who has expressed skepticism toward the Rock Hall.
For example, Bruce Dickinson, frontman of Iron Maiden, has also criticized the institution in the past.
Dickinson once called the Hall:
“An utter, complete load of bollocks.”
He even suggested he would refuse induction if his band were ever chosen, describing the Hall as something closer to a “mausoleum” than a celebration of living music.
A Hall of Fame Induction Liam Gallagher Doesn’t Want
While many musicians see a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction as a crowning achievement, Liam Gallagher has made it clear that he doesn’t view the honor in the same way.
Whether Oasis eventually gets inducted or not, the singer appears completely unfazed — and perhaps even amused by the idea.
For Gallagher, the band’s legacy was already cemented decades ago through the music itself, rather than any industry award.
