On this day in 1994, Pink Floyd’s The Division Bell sat at No.1 on the UK album chart — their fourth British chart-topper and an album that spent 51 weeks on the UK chart.
Released on 28 March 1994, it reached No.1 in more than 10 countries including the US, was certified triple platinum in America, and the accompanying Division Bell Tour sold over 5.3 million tickets generating around $100 million in gross income.
Featuring “High Hopes,” “Take It Back,” and Grammy-winning instrumental “Marooned,” it was the last Pink Floyd studio album recorded with Richard Wright, who died in 2008. 32 years ago today.
The last great chapter of one of rock’s greatest stories.
