Saxon Announce “Gods of Thunder” 2027 UK & Ireland Tour with Epic Eagle Stage Return

New Wave of British Heavy Metal pioneers Saxon have unleashed details of an epic 11-date UK and Ireland run set for February 2027, marking the first confirmed dates of their ambitious Gods of Thunder World Tour. The tour promises to be one of the most visually spectacular outings in the band’s storied history, complete with the triumphant return of their legendary 30-foot mechanised Eagle stage prop.

Frontman Biff Byford and the band — still flying high on the momentum of their recent releases and unwavering commitment to classic heavy metal — will kick off the run on Saturday, February 13, 2027, at Wolverhampton Civic Hall. From there, they’ll storm through Glasgow, Belfast, Dublin, Manchester, Newcastle, Sheffield, Cardiff, Bristol, Southampton, and conclude with a bang at London’s Eventim Apollo Hammersmith on February 27.

Making the shows truly unforgettable, Saxon are reviving their iconic 30-foot mechanised Eagle for every date except Cardiff, where venue restrictions prevent its flight. Alongside the majestic bird, fans can expect the full return of the band’s celebrated Castles & Eagles stage production, delivering one of the most grandiose live spectacles in Saxon’s long career.

“We wanted to make the Gods of Thunder UK & Ireland tour extra special,” said Biff Byford. “And what better way than to fly our beloved Saxon Eagle again… Get ready for take-off!”

The tour will support the release of Saxon’s 25th studio album, due early in 2027 via Silver Lining Music. At this stage in their career, the Yorkshire titans continue to prove why they remain one of the most resilient and exciting forces in British heavy metal, delivering powerful anthems and high-energy performances that have inspired generations of metalheads since the late 1970s.

Formed in 1975 in Barnsley, Saxon emerged as one of the leading lights of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal alongside bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. With enduring classics such as “Wheels of Steel,” “Princess of the Night,” “Denim and Leather,” and “747 (Strangers in the Night),” they built a reputation for thunderous riffs, anthemic choruses, and a no-nonsense live show that has stood the test of time. Despite lineup changes over the decades, the current incarnation — anchored by the unmistakable voice of Biff Byford — continues to deliver the goods with the same passion that defined their early success.

This 2027 run arrives as Saxon remain one of the hardest-working bands in metal, consistently touring and releasing new music while staying true to their roots. The revival of the giant Eagle and full stage production signals that the band is pulling out all the stops to give fans a true theatrical metal experience worthy of their legendary status.
