Peter Hammill Returns with “Tears In Time”– First New Album in Five Years

Prog legend Peter Hammill is back with Tears In Time, his first album of new material in five years. The Van der Graaf Generator frontman will release the 11-track collection on September 25, 2026, via Esoteric Antenna Records.

The album gathers songs recorded across various sessions at Hammill’s Terra Incognita studio between 1991 and 2026. It marks his first set of original compositions since 2017’s From The Trees, following 2021’s covers album In Translation.

Hammill shared his thoughts on the new work: “These songs have been a long time in the gestation and making. I’m pleased with the way they’ve worked out. They seem to hang together as a group, even though there’s a wide range of styles represented here. I’ve not stopped yet and I’m very happy that songs still seem to find their way into my hands.”
