Jaguars officially sign Travis Hunter to reported 4-year, $46.65M deal

The Jacksonville Jaguars have officially locked in one of the most unique prospects in recent NFL memory. No. 2 overall pick Travis Hunter signed a four-year rookie contract worth about $46.65 million, including a $30.57 million signing bonus, with the deal fully guaranteed and carrying the standard fifth-year option for first-round picks.

Hunter’s contract is notable for another reason: according to his agents, he becomes the first non-quarterback not selected first overall to receive his full signing bonus up front. The Jaguars, meanwhile, continue to build their offense and defense around his rare two-way talent, with the team expecting him to contribute at both cornerback and wide receiver.

Jacksonville’s faith in Hunter began long before the deal was signed. The Jaguars traded a significant package to move up from No. 5 to No. 2 in the 2025 NFL Draft, sending the Browns the fifth and 36th picks, a fourth-round selection, and a 2026 first-rounder to land the Heisman winner. Hunter later became the centerpiece of the franchise’s plans after producing elite numbers at Colorado, where he played heavy snaps on both sides of the ball.

At Colorado in 2024, Hunter recorded 96 catches for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns on offense, while adding four interceptions, 11 pass breakups, and 36 tackles on defense. He was also named the AP college football player of the year and Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, adding to his Heisman Trophy credentials.

Hunter said after signing that “It feels great” and added that he was “very excited and ready to get to work.” For Jacksonville, the move finalizes one of the most talked-about rookie deals of the year and sets the stage for one of the league’s most closely watched two-way experiments.
