AC/DC launched the Australian leg of their Power Up tour at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, to a stadium packed with tens of thousands of roaring fans adorned with light-up devil horns. The night’s setlist blended stadium-rock anthems with the unexpected, delivering a performance described by one reviewer as “a relentless barrage of anthems from start to finish.”
They kicked things off dramatically with “If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It)”, followed by fan-favourites like “Back in Black”, “Thunderstruck”, and “Highway to Hell”. The opening portion was largely familiar to fans of the ongoing global tour, but at the 13-song mark came the surprise: “Jailbreak”, a Bon Scott-era track not performed live since 1991.
Following that moment came two more classic Scott-fronted songs — “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap” and “High Voltage” — turning the set into a delight for longtime fans. The encore closed with the crowd favourite “T.N.T.” and the cannon-blasting “For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)”.
The tour continues in Melbourne on Sunday, 16 November, before moving on to Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, and Brisbane — bringing Australia two decades-worth of live absence in one high-voltage burst. In support, Australian rockers Amyl and the Sniffers are appearing on all dates, with local acts such as The Casanovas (Melbourne), Large Mirage (Sydney), Oscar The Wild (Adelaide), The Southern River Band (Perth), and Headsend (Brisbane) joining in.
Analysts noted that despite being decades into their career, AC/DC’s 23-ton speaker rig and thunderous performance triggered measurable seismic activity near the venue. “It wasn’t just sound in the air; it was pumping into the earth,” said chief seismologist Adam Pascali of the Seismology Research Centre.
For fans, the setlist provided both the comfort of the known and the thrill of the rare. Whether “Jailbreak” becomes a regular feature remains unclear, but one thing is certain: AC/DC haven’t softened with age — they just turned the volume up.
