Detroit’s Own Jack White to Headline the Lions’ Thanksgiving Halftime Show

The Detroit Lions have announced that Detroit-native rock legend Jack White will perform at halftime of their Thanksgiving Day Classic on Thursday, November 27, 2025, when the team hosts the Green Bay Packers at Ford Field.

This year’s halftime show is powered by Verizon, and marks a special hometown moment: White, a 12-time Grammy Award winner, is deeply tied to Detroit’s music legacy.  Alongside him, gospel icon and fellow Detroiter CeCe Winans will perform the national anthem before kickoff.

A Detroit Legend Takes the Stage

White first rose to global fame as part of The White Stripes—his raw guitar work and powerful vocals left a lasting mark on modern rock.  He’s also been the creative force behind The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather, building a reputation as one of rock’s most inventive artists.  Just recently, he and The White Stripes were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on November 8, 2025, making this halftime appearance feel like a full-circle moment.

The Lions highlighted White’s Detroit roots, noting in a press statement:

“Born and raised in Detroit as the youngest of 10 siblings … White’s ability to weave relevant, compelling, and poignant artistry into his music leaves him unparalleled.”

Bigger Picture — Music, Charity, and Community

This halftime show isn’t just about the spectacle — it’s part of a larger, meaningful effort. The Lions are partnering with Feeding America in a donation initiative during the game, encouraging viewers to give so families can share meals this holiday season.  On game day, Verizon will host a food-relief kit-packing event outside Ford Field in their tailgate space, giving fans a hands-on way to contribute.

Behind the scenes, the production is being handled by a powerful Detroit team. Rap icon Eminem and his long-time manager Paul Rosenberg are serving as executive producers for the halftime show through 2027.

What Fans Are Saying & What to Expect

Fans and local media alike are calling this one of the most “Detroit” halftime shows in years.  Some have praised the pick as a major win for the city’s rock legacy (“Detroit ROCK City for a reason”), while others are already speculating what songs White might play —  whether he’ll hit fans with a classic or surprise them with something deep.

The game itself will be nationally televised on FOX, with kickoff set for 1:00 p.m. EST.
