Five musicians who hated Guns N’ Roses

Guns N’ Roses

There’s a lot to say about Guns ‘n Roses. On the one hand, they’re fantastic musicians who have pushed the frontiers of rock music with albums like Use Your Illusion I and II. On the other side, they are a controversial musical group with a volatile frontman. They have had numerous number-one hits, headlined festivals, and performed in front of some of the world’s largest audiences. They’ve also ruffled some feathers along the road.

Rock stars and those linked with rock are known for speaking their thoughts. The music they play was born out of revolt, hence it is typically played by rebellious people. Being a rock star entails having an opinion of people and stating that opinion. Therefore, any musician offended by the band will almost probably make that offense known.

Because of the group’s notoriously outrageous attitude, they have upset a wide spectrum of people for a variety of reasons. Some individuals may dislike their music, but the dispute is usually far more personal.

For example, David Bowie was not a fan of Axl Rose because, during a performance at The Cathouse, Rose recognized Bowie in the front row and began to humiliate him. Bowie stepped up and walked away, refusing to accept any stick from the cocksure falsetto. Slash claimed after the show that Rose was upset with Bowie because he allegedly touched on his girlfriend.

Guns N’ Roses and Nirvana were also at odds. Kurt Cobain, a well-known feminist, was never a fan of Rose’s misogynistic songs, which he was known for screaming at his shows. When Rose came out and declared he admired Nirvana, it angered Cobain, who made an effort to disassociate the two bands.

Grohl recently addressed the rivalry, recalling how Axl Rose attempted to persuade Nirvana to open for them on tour. “Guns N’ Roses were about to do this massive stadium tour with Metallica, and they wanted us to open,” he went on to say. “Axl had been calling Kurt incessantly. Kurt says, ‘Fuck, Axl Rose won’t stop calling me.‘ I believe it symbolized something bigger. Nirvana did not wish to become like Guns N’ Roses. So Kurt started spewing stuff in interviews, and Axl started responding. It bounced back and forth like tenth-grade nonsense.”

Corey Taylor also had troubles with Axl Rose. Despite his admiration for Guns N’ Roses and having worked with Slash’s band Velvet Revolver, he had to hold back his thoughts on Rose. Taylor was performing at the same event as the band. He learned that Axl Rose had allocated an entire corridor in the backstage area for the Guns N’ Roses camp to relax. Taylor thought this was a dick move, so he went backstage, found Roses piano, and rubbed his testicles across the keys.

Jon Bon Jovi and James Hetfield were among the musicians who disliked the ensemble. During the tour, Hetfield developed a dislike for Axl Rose after Rose mistreated many fans and cut shows short due to poor sound. Jon Bon Jovi has taken issue with Roses’ entire attitude. He even stated once that no one listened to Guns N’ Roses anymore. The only reason people attended their concerts was to see what kind of freak show the band had planned.
