Jonathan Cain has confirmed that he will remain an active member of Journey for a little while longer, as the band gears up for what he describes as his final tour with them in 2026-27. The clarification comes after guitarist Neal Schon posted that Cain had “announced his farewell to Journey tonight,” sparking confusion among fans. Schon later added that Journey “has so much more life ahead,” and that Cain is expected to continue with the band through the upcoming tours.
Cain’s management echoed that there are no immediate changes. A spokesperson stated, “Jonathan Cain remains an active member of Journey, and any reports suggesting otherwise are inaccurate. He is fully dedicated to touring with the band over the next couple of years and has only expressed plans to retire at a later time.”
Schon explained that while Cain plans to eventually step away, this won’t happen until after the 2026 and 2027 touring cycles.
In other news, Cain is working on solo projects too. He recently announced a new single titled “No One Else”, a tribute to the late activist Charlie Kirk, and teased more of his faith-based music, saying that after his time with Journey, he may focus more on ministry work.
Through it all, fans seem both nostalgic and supportive. On social media, many shared memories of classic Journey concerts, celebrating Cain’s contributions and wishing that the farewell tour be worthy of everything he built with the band. Others expressed sadness but also gratitude — for decades of music that shaped lives.
