Rock veterans Journey were forced to delay a pair of concerts on their current farewell tour after health issues affecting singer Arnel Pineda and the touring camp disrupted their schedule.
The band confirmed that two shows on the “Final Frontier Tour” — scheduled for Des Moines, Iowa, and Lincoln, Nebraska — had to be postponed at the last minute due to illness affecting the band’s camp. The sudden change left many fans who had already planned trips to the concerts waiting for new dates to be announced.
Journey guitarist Neal Schon addressed the situation in a message to fans, apologizing for the disruption and explaining that the decision was unavoidable.
He wrote:
“Dear friends, Des Moines and Lincoln — we’re sincerely sorry we had to postpone our shows due to illness.”
Schon acknowledged the disappointment for fans who had already made travel plans and emphasized that the band intends to make the concerts happen once the situation is resolved.
“Please hold onto your tickets while we address the current schedule. We want nothing more than to come back and make those nights unforgettable,” he added.
The postponement comes during Journey’s large-scale 2026 “Final Frontier Tour,” a North American run announced in late 2025 that began on February 28, 2026, in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and is scheduled to conclude in July 2026. The tour spans more than 60 shows across the United States and Canada and is designed as a major celebration of the band’s decades-long career.
However, the demanding schedule has reportedly taken a toll on Pineda. In recent interviews, the singer admitted that the intense touring pace, vocal strain, and personal challenges had left him physically and emotionally exhausted. He revealed that he had even considered stepping away from the band at one point due to the pressures of the schedule.
Pineda has been the voice of Journey since 2007, when Neal Schon famously discovered the Filipino singer on YouTube and invited him to audition for the band. His arrival helped spark a new era for the group, introducing them to a younger generation of fans while keeping their classic hits alive on stages worldwide.
Despite the current setback, Journey has assured fans that the rest of the tour is still expected to continue once the health issues are addressed. For now, ticket holders for the affected shows are being asked to keep their tickets while new dates are arranged.
For a band built on songs about perseverance — including their enduring anthem “Don’t Stop Believin’” — the hope is that the tour will soon get back on track, allowing Journey to finish their farewell run the way it was meant to be experienced: live, loud, and in front of the fans who have followed them for decades.
