Metallica Rocks a Tiny Hamptons Crowd With Star-Studded Show

Metallica returned to their roots Thursday night with a surprise show in the Hamptons, performing for just 500 fans under a tent at the legendary Stephen Talkhouse on Long Island.

“This reminds us of the club days,” frontman James Hetfield told the crowd, according to Rolling Stone. “Getting hot and sweaty and up close and personal. We’re gonna get loud tonight. The neighbors are gonna know who’s here.”

The intimate concert wasn’t just for contest-winning fans—celebrities including Paul McCartney, Michael J. Fox, Sylvester Stallone, Howard Stern, and Chris Jericho were also spotted in the audience.

The band tore through a career-spanning setlist, with highlights like “Creeping Death,” “Fade to Black,” and “One.” A special moment came when Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo paid tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, breaking into “Crazy Train” as their nightly “doodle.” The night closed with the stadium-shaking anthem “Enter Sandman.”
