Nancy Wilson, the veteran guitarist and co-founder of Heart, has openly talked about what could be the band’s next and potentially final creative chapter — a new studio album and a celebratory “victory lap” in 2027. In a recent conversation on Andy Frasco’s World Saving Podcast, Wilson revealed that she’s been in a creative phase, writing new material and feeling inspired by the chemistry within Heart’s current lineup, which includes musicians who also play in her sister Ann Wilson’s solo band Tripsitter. With songs in development and both sisters contributing ideas, she said it feels like the right moment to record “one last Heart album” that honors the group’s legacy and collective artistry.

Wilson framed the project as a “victory lap” — a chance to wrap up more than five decades of music with something new rather than simply touring old hits. She emphasized that the lineup’s enthusiasm and talent make this era especially exciting creatively, noting there are “no limits on what we could pull off as musicians.” Her vision extends beyond just the music; she wants 2027 to highlight the heart of the band’s story, including the forthcoming Heart biopic and documentary currently in development, which she said could become a central focus of that celebratory period.

The prospect of a final album comes as Heart continues touring, including their ongoing Royal Flush Tour, which was extended into 2026 following Ann Wilson’s recovery after cancer-related health challenges in 2024. That resilience on the road — and the multi-generational crowds who attend Heart’s shows — has reinforced Wilson’s sense that the band’s legacy is still strong even as she contemplates a more measured future. She acknowledged that while the thrill of performing live remains “the magic thing” she loves, the physical toll of constant touring has grown more demanding after nearly fifty years on the road.

Wilson hasn’t laid out specific release dates or tour plans tied to the 2027 project, but her comments indicate that Heart’s final chapter could be both an emotional celebration and a creative culmination. Drawing from years of shared history and recent collaborative energy, she appears intent on crafting a meaningful send-off — one that honors the band’s iconic status while looking forward as a legacy-defining moment.
