Pearl Jam ignited their 2025 tour on Thursday night in Hollywood, Florida, delivering a night packed with energy, deep cuts, and heartfelt tributes.

The band blended fan favorites with fresh tracks from their latest album, Dark Matter, and lit up the stage with covers of the Byrds’ “So You Want to Be a Rock ‘n’ Roll Star,” the Who’s timeless anthem “Baba O’Riley,” and Victoria Williams’ haunting “Cr*zy Mary.”

During a powerful moment in the set, Eddie Vedder stepped into the spotlight alone to perform a moving version of Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down.” Before strumming the first notes, Vedder shared a personal story with the crowd.

“I only take this guitar out on special occasions, you see,” he said, holding up a cherished instrument. “But knowing we were all coming down to Florida, I brought it with me. This guitar was a gift from our friend Tom Petty. And even though he may be gone, it feels like he’s here with us tonight.”

The emotional tribute capped off an electrifying start to Pearl Jam’s new tour — blending old-school passion with fresh spirit.
