Peter Wolf Is Back: J. Geils Band Frontman Reveals First 2026 Performances

Peter Wolf — the charismatic singer best known as the frontman for the J. Geils Band — is officially returning to live performances in 2026 after taking more than a year off from touring. Known for his energetic stage presence and eclectic solo work, Wolf has revealed the first dates of what will become a larger set of shows, promising more dates to come as the year unfolds.

First Confirmed Shows for 2026

Wolf’s comeback tour currently includes two confirmed shows in the northeastern United States:

  • February 13, 2026 — Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, Massachusetts
  • March 28, 2026 — Greenwich Odeum in Greenwich, Rhode Island

Both performances are set to go on sale Friday, December 19, 2025, with tickets available through standard outlets. Wolf has indicated that additional dates will be announced as planning continues.

Why Wolf Took a Break

Wolf’s hiatus from the road wasn’t accidental — it was purposeful. In 2025 he released his book Waiting on the Moon: Artists, Poets, Drifters, Grifters, and Goddesses, an engaging collection of stories that reflect his distinctive voice, humor, and life experience. The book blends memoir with a series of colorful vignettes — something Wolf described as a serious creative project that “required a sabbatical.” He compared writing it to making an album, saying it deserved full focus and commitment.

New Music on the Horizon

While the book was his big focus last year, Wolf also hinted that music is not far behind. He revealed that he is roughly 80% finished with a new album, his first since 2016’s A Cure for Loneliness. His solo work has traditionally attracted a cult audience, but Wolf explained to Billboard that he wanted to ensure the album doesn’t simply “turn to vapor” in today’s fast-moving music landscape — another reason he paused to fully commit to the book first.

Who Will Be on Stage With Him

The upcoming 2026 shows will feature Wolf’s longtime collaborators, the Midnight Travelers, the band that backed him during his 2024 acoustic tour. A recent social media post showed Wolf performing Don Covay’s “The Usual Place” with friends and fellow guitarists Duke Levine and Chris Cote — a hint at the informal, intimate vibe he’s cultivating for his live return.

What Fans Can Expect

Although only two dates are confirmed so far, fans can look forward to a larger 2026 touring schedule, with Wolf balancing new material, his storied catalog, and the rapport that has made his live shows memorable for decades. Those first confirmed dates open the door to what many hope will be a full tour and possibly festival appearances later in the year.
