Pink Floyd has officially released a long-awaited music video for their classic song “Wish You Were Here,” arriving half a century after the track first appeared on their groundbreaking 1975 album of the same name. The visual was unveiled as part of the ongoing celebration of the album’s 50th anniversary, bringing fresh imagery to one of progressive rock’s most beloved songs.

Directed by Justin Daashuur Hopkins and produced by creative studio Son&Heir, the new official video blends nostalgic and surreal visuals. It features a mixture of archival footage of the band in the studio, scenes of Pink Floyd members moving through London landmarks like the Underground and Westminster station, and striking psychedelic sequences — including live performance clips, animated figurines drifting through space, and vivid symbolic motifs such as sperm racing toward an egg.

The video’s aesthetic — at times dreamlike, at others abstract — mirrors the emotional depth and themes of absence, longing, and alienation that are woven through the original song, which has resonated with generations of listeners since it first debuted.

50th Anniversary Context

This new video arrives as part of the Wish You Were Here 50 campaign, launched with the reissue of the album in multiple formats, including deluxe box sets, Blu-Ray editions, and expanded digital releases. The anniversary edition — released in December 2025 — features new mixes, rare studio bonus tracks, and expanded liner content that re-examines Wish You Were Here from every angle.

The 1975 album itself was a defining moment for Pink Floyd, following the massive success of The Dark Side of the Moon and deepening the band’s exploration of themes like absence, nostalgia, and creative struggle. The title track has remained a staple of rock radio and a fan favorite, making its official music video release a long-anticipated addition to the legacy of the song.

Fans can now watch the official “Wish You Were Here” video online, pairing the timeless track with visual storytelling that bridges the band’s rich history and the modern medium of music videos — even 50 years on.
