When Maynard James Keenan, Mat Mitchell and Carina Round decided to regroup as Puscifer, they didn’t aim to revisit the past—they set out to re-conquer it. Five years after their last full-length album, the ensemble is steering into darker territory, releasing an album called Normal Isn’t (due February 6, 2026) and supporting it with a North American tour beginning in spring 2026.
“We’re definitely leaning into our early influences,” Keenan says. “It’s the place where goth meets punk. It’s where I came from.”
The new record, featuring 11 tracks, promises a heavier, more guitar-driven sound than previous works. As Mitchell explains, “From the outset, we had discussed an element of rawness and edge, which guitar brings.” The offering is previewed by the lead single “Self Evident”, whose music video was filmed during an exclusive August performance in Los Angeles.
Keenan adds context to the album’s title and tone: “Normal Isn’t reflects this time we are living in. As storytellers and artists, our job is to observe, interpret and report. We take in our environment and share what we see, and what we see around us does not appear normal. Not by a long shot.”
Recording took place across Arizona and Los Angeles and on the road last year during the band’s “Sessanta” tour. Contributions on the album come from long-time collaborators and guest musicians including Tony Levin, Danny Carey and Ian Ross.
The tour kicks off March 20, 2026 in Las Vegas at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan and wraps on May 14 in Los Angeles at The Greek Theatre. Stops will include major cities such as New York (Terminal 5), Chicago (The Chicago Theatre) and Denver (Red Rocks Amphitheatre). General ticket sales begin Friday, October 24, 2025 at 10 a.m. local time, with an artist pre-sale starting October 22.
