Legendary drummer and singer Ringo Starr has unveiled his upcoming studio album titled ** Long Long Road,** set for release on April 24, 2026. The record continues Starr’s recent deep dive into country, Americana, and roots music, blending his lifelong love of those styles with the warm, organic musicianship of Nashville and Los Angeles session players.
The first single from the album, “It’s Been Too Long,” features rich vocals from acclaimed Americana artists Molly Tuttle and Sarah Jarosz, introducing the sound and feel of Long Long Road while giving fans a taste of what’s to come.
Long Long Road is Starr’s second album produced by T Bone Burnett, the Grammy‑winning musician and producer whose work on Starr’s previous record Look Up helped broaden his solo identity in country and roots music. Starr has said that working with Burnett has been one of his “right moves,” bringing fresh energy and perspective to his music.
The album’s title reflects both Starr’s personal journey and his lifelong musical path: “I’ve been on a long long road,” he explained, suggesting that the songs trace his influences, experiences, and reflections across decades of life and music.
Long Long Road was recorded in both Nashville and Los Angeles, and features an ensemble of seasoned musicians who contributed to Look Up, with many returning to help shape the new project’s sound. The core group — affectionately dubbed “The Texans” by Burnett in homage to a band Starr once played with in Liverpool — includes players such as Paul Franklin, David Mansfield, Dennis Crouch, Daniel Tashian, Rory Hoffman, Patrick Warren and Colin Linden.
In keeping with the country and Americana spirit of the album, Starr and Burnett included a classic song by rockabilly pioneer Carl Perkins, “I Don’t See Me In Your Eyes Anymore,” which Burnett discovered and chose as a fitting tribute within the sonically diverse tracklist.
The Long Long Road album features ten tracks that reflect both the roots of country music and Starr’s own melodic strengths — from heartfelt songwriting and thoughtful lyrics to rich instrumental arrangements that emphasize guitar, pedal steel, and warm ensemble playing. The track list includes:
- Returning Without Tears
- Baby Don’t Go
- I Don’t See Me In Your Eyes Anymore
- It’s Been Too Long
- Why
- You And I (Wave of Love)
- My Baby Don’t Want Nothing
- Choose Love
- She’s Gone
- Long Long Road
Starr’s previous album Look Up, released in January 2025, marked his first country‑focused record in over 50 years and achieved notable success on the charts, including a Top 10 placement on the Billboard Album Sales chart and a No. 1 position on the UK Country Album Chart. He also performed at the Grand Ole Opry during that album’s tour, further cementing his connection to the music scene in Nashville.
With Long Long Road, Ringo Starr continues to embrace his passion for roots‑oriented music while exploring new creative territory alongside Burnett, guest vocalists, and a cast of standout instrumentalists. The album’s release is highly anticipated by fans of Starr’s solo work and listeners drawn to the rich blending of classic and contemporary country/Americana sound.
