Roger Waters has once again spoken out about his strained relationship with former Pink Floyd bandmate David Gilmour, describing Gilmour as “irrelevant” to him and claiming he’s been banned from official band channels.
Waters, who left Pink Floyd in 1985, said in a recent interview that he no longer sees Gilmour or Richard Wright (late keyboardist) as part of his social or musical life. “Rick and I were never really friends, and Dave and I were never really friends, so the fact that we are still no longer really friends is kind of irrelevant to all of our lives,” Waters said.
One of Waters’ biggest complaints is that his solo work is not represented on Pink Floyd’s official website or social media, which he claims is controlled by Gilmour. “Nothing from me is on the website — I am banned by David Gilmour from the website,” Waters said. “David thinks he owns it … that he is Pink Floyd, and that I’m irrelevant, and that I should keep my mouth shut.”
Waters also revealed that he tried to reconcile their differences — including proposing what he called a “Camp David” meeting with Gilmour and drummer Nick Mason. He says the meeting failed to resolve anything.
David Gilmour has not publicly responded in detail to these assertions lately.
