Rush Fans Say They Were “Played” by Ticket Presale

When the presale for Rush’s reunion tour went live, fans flooded Ticketmaster’s digital queues, expecting a fair shot at tickets. But within minutes, many saw the affordable options disappear — replaced by “platinum” and “dynamic pricing” listings that soared to hundreds, even thousands of dollars.

“I was only 2,000 in line for MSG,” one fan shared on Reddit. “All the $132 tickets vanished. The only ones left were $800 and up.”

Another fan from Toronto said, “The cheapest pair I could find was $841. I was shaking. I can’t afford that — but this was supposed to be my dream show.”

Virtual Queue Leaves Fans Waiting, Then Empty-Handed

Many described Ticketmaster’s queue system as a rigged game, leaving them waiting over an hour only to find that standard-priced tickets were already gone. “There were 20,758 people ahead of me,” one fan said. “By the time I got in, everything was platinum. It’s like they make it feel scarce just to justify the price hikes.”

Even early arrivals were met with the same outcome. One user recalled, “I was in line early, and still — not a single ticket under $700. I’m gutted. This isn’t what Rush stood for.”

Loyal Fans Feel Betrayed

For Rush fans — many of whom have supported the band for decades — this presale felt deeply personal.

“Rush was always about integrity, honesty, and respect for the fans,” one longtime listener posted. “To see this happen under their name hurts.”

The outrage echoes a growing frustration with modern ticketing practices, where dynamic pricing and resellers dominate, leaving real fans behind. What should’ve been a triumphant return for Rush has instead turned into a cautionary tale of how the concert industry continues to alienate its most loyal supporters.
