In the new episode of the series ‘Storytime With Sammy Hagar,’ the Van Halen rocker shared the one superpower he wants to have. Hagar explained how he would want to have people with a superpower.
“If I had a superpower, I dream of having a superpower. When I was a kid I was just a guy named Roy who had superpowers. And I would be saving people like there would be an earthquake and car wreck, and people could be stranded, and with superpowers, I could lift the car. I’m not joking, that was my whole thing when I was little.”
Though he did not have many superheroes to take after when he was younger, Hagar says he would still like to be one of them, “When I was little, there weren’t all these superheroes. There was only Superman. And there was Wolfman, Dracula, and those guys. So yes I really would trade anything and everything if I could heal people. If I could heal children, sick children, if I could only do one, I’d say I’d heal sick children. If I could do anybody that’d be great. I’d park myself in rural areas and poor parts of cities, and I would heal people all day, and I would sleep, and I would eat and I would do it again. So I wish for that, I dream for that and I will try it someday.”
Hagar Loves Helping Others
Hagar might not have superpowers, but he does love helping others. He donates to several charities and helps others to have better conditions.
One example of that would be his giving money to the local food bank in every city he performs in. The Red Rocker teamed up with food banks on previous tours and personally witnessed the good they do for people who need help. He says, “Supporting food banks in local communities is the best way for me to make a difference in the simplest and most effective way.”
Hagar is also making sure people know about food banks in the places he visits. He’s putting up information about them on video screens while rocking out to Van Halen’s 1992 hit ‘Right Now’ during live shows.
“I redid the [music video] to bring it up to date and I’m putting [in] food bank information from each local food bank. We’re sending people down with cameras and taking footage of people collecting food.”
Additionally, Hagar donates the profits from his Beach Bar & Grill restaurants to different charities via the Hagar Family Foundation.
