“Still Pretty Fresh : Jack Osbourne Opens Up About Coping With Ozzy’s Death

Jack Osbourne has shared a deeply personal look at his ongoing grief, admitting that his father Ozzy Osbourne’s death, four months on, still feels “pretty fresh.”

Speaking on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, he told soap star Lisa Riley how stunned he was by the speed of his dad’s passing. “We knew he was sick for a while, but it was definitely a shock,” Jack said.

He reflected on his father’s final performance — Back to the Beginning, Black Sabbath’s farewell concert — calling it “the ultimate mic drop.” He described the show as massive and triumphant, followed by his father simply saying, “Alright, I’m done.”

Talking about why he participated in the reality show so soon after losing Ozzy, Jack joked that his dad would have been surprised:

“He’s looking at me, being like, ‘What the [fuck] are you doing?’ … He’d be so supportive of this.”

But it’s not just a joke — Jack was clear about how he’s really feeling: “It’s been three, nearly four months, so it’s still pretty fresh.”

Earlier, on Instagram, he paid tribute to Ozzy with both heartbreak and gratitude. He wrote that his “heart is full of so much sadness and sorrow, but also so much love and gratitude.”  He also reflected on how lucky he felt to have spent 14,501 days with his dad.

To honor his father’s spirit, Jack quoted Hunter S. Thompson:

“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely … but rather to skid in broadside … thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, ‘Wow! What a ride!’”  According to him, that carefree, wild energy captured exactly who Ozzy was.
