The Only Two Led Zeppelin Songs Written Without Jimmy Page

Led Zeppelin

Although each band has its own creation process, someone is often the driving force behind the band’s musical direction and contributions to their works. Considering the scenario in Led Zeppelin, the band’s outstanding guitarist Jimmy Page has always stood out as the mastermind. He formed the band in the first place, wrote the majority of the original material, and produced and engineered all of their albums.

The guitarist hasn’t been through with Led Zeppelin, despite the band parted ways long ago. Page has worked hard to remaster their older releases and find archival content to share with fans. While his contribution to the band is undeniable, Led Zeppelin released two tracks with no participation from Jimmy Page.

The Two Led Zeppelin Songs Jimmy Page Didn’t Take Part In Writing

Each Led Zeppelin member contributed significantly to the creation of a distinct sound and unforgettable works. However, Jimmy Page stood out for his amazing guitar playing, great riffs, and compositional abilities. Surprisingly, he did not contribute to two Zeppelin tracks, which were produced by Robert Plant and John Paul Jones.

These two songs, ‘All My Love‘ and ‘South Bound Saurez,’ appeared on the band’s eighth and last studio album, ‘In Through the Out Door,’ published in 1979. Both tracks are credited to Robert Plant and John Paul Jones. While ‘All My Love’ is a heartfelt memorial to Robert Plant’s late son Karac, who died of a stomach disease in 1977, ‘South Bound Saurez’ is a fun song with memorable riffs.

However, there was a reason why Jimmy Page and John Bonham’s contributions to this album were fewer than those on prior albums. Page was suffering from heroin addiction at the time, while Bonham was grappling with alcoholism. As a result, the two musicians regularly missed their scheduled recording sessions.

As a result, Plant and Jones were left to handle the majority of the workload. Page and Bonham would come to the studio late at night to record their parts. So, ‘In Through the Out Door’ became the only album on which Bonham earned no authorship credit, and Jimmy Page did not contribute to the creation of two songs.
