Thunder Release ‘The Dopamine Sessions’ EP: Four Unreleased Tracks and Live Gems Now Out

British hard rock stalwarts Thunder have delivered a surprise treat for fans with the release of their new seven-track EP, The Dopamine Sessions, available now as a digital download. The project digs into the vaults from their 2022 album Dopamine, offering previously unreleased studio material alongside intimate live performances.

The EP features four strong outtakes recorded during the Dopamine sessions that didn’t make the final cut of the band’s 14th studio album. Vocalist Danny Bowes explained the decision: “We loved how these tunes turned out but decided (after some lengthy discussion) not to include them on the album. We just felt they didn’t quite fit with the overall feel of the rest of the tunes, but they’re great, so we’ve always known we would release them one day.”

Tracklisting for The Dopamine Sessions

  1. Everything’s Alright
  2. Skin & Bone
  3. Point Of No Return
  4. Waiting For The Spotlight
  5. Unravelling (Luke & Danny Live)
  6. Big Pink Supermoon (Luke & Danny Live)
  7. Dancing In The Sunshine (Luke & Danny Live)

The first four tracks are studio recordings from the Dopamine era, while the final three are acoustic live versions of songs from that album. These were originally performed by Danny Bowes and guitarist Luke Morley for a Spanish TV show in 2022. Thunder bassist Chris Childs later remastered the audio specifically for this EP release, giving them fresh life four years later.

A Welcome Addition to Thunder’s Recent Output

Thunder’s 2022 double album Dopamine marked a strong chapter for the band, known for their melodic hard rock anthems, powerful vocals, and consistent live reputation since forming in 1989. With hits like “Love Walked In,” “Low Life in High Places,” and enduring fan favorites, Thunder have built a loyal following in the UK and across Europe through their no-nonsense rock ‘n’ roll and energetic performances.

The Dopamine Sessions serves as a bridge between the full album and fans hungry for more material from that creative period. It’s a smart move for a band that has always prioritized quality songwriting and delivering value to their dedicated audience.

Where to Get It Fans can download The Dopamine Sessions for £7.99 exclusively from Thunder’s official Retro Store. No physical release has been announced at this time.

This EP arrives as Thunder continue to celebrate their legacy while keeping new music flowing. Longtime supporters will appreciate the chance to hear these “lost” tracks that were deemed strong enough to release years later, while the live cuts offer a stripped-back glimpse into the band’s enduring chemistry.
