Tom Morello has never been one to sit quietly during turbulent political times, and his latest musical offering proves that the spirit of rebellion is officially being passed down to the next generation. On Friday, May 29, 2026, the iconic Rage Against the Machine guitarist officially released his blistering new solo single, “Adjourn It.” The heavy, anti-fascist anthem is a powerhouse collaboration featuring System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian alongside Morello’s 15-year-old guitar prodigy son, Roman Morello.

Produced by Zakk Cervini, “Adjourn It” seamlessly blends genres to create a massive sonic wall. The track features a classic Rage Against the Machine-style rap-metal chorus driven by Tankian’s unmistakable vocals, slinky and dark verses reminiscent of classic Bob Dylan storytelling, a thrash metal bridge, and a monumental, blazing closing guitar solo courtesy of teenage Roman. To match the track’s message, the accompanying music video incorporates striking footage from the 1954 independent film Salt of the Earth, which centers on the historic Mexican-American zinc miner strikes.

For Morello and Tankian, the collaboration is an extension of a deep activist bond that stretches back to 2002, when the duo co-founded the Axis of Justice non-profit organization to combat racism and advocate for grassroots social justice causes within the heavy music community.

The urgency behind “Adjourn It” is fueled directly by the current political climate. Morello has spent the last few months on the front lines of activism, joining recent Minneapolis protests against ICE raids that claimed the lives of individuals Alex Pretti and Renee Good, as well as attending a major demonstration in New York earlier this May.

Reflecting on the track’s release and the state of the world, Morello delivered a passionate statement on the vital role of musicians today:

“At this historical juncture every act of art is an act of resistance and ‘Adjourn It,’ a collaboration with longtime friend Serj Tankian and my 15-year-old guitar wiz son Roman Morello, is a clarion call for justice in unjust times,” Morello declared.

“This latest tune from my upcoming solo album combines multi-generational Morello bulldozer riffs with the great Serj Tankian’s prophetic wailings,” he continued. “Inspired by the persecution of immigrants across the land and the heroic resistance to the rising tide of fascism, it’s just about damn time to rock for freedom, justice, and equality. It is a ‘Freedom Song’ of crushing riffs for justice.”

The arrival of “Adjourn It” also sets the stage for Morello’s newly announced massive music event, The Power To The People Festival. Scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland, the festival features a staggering lineup curated by Morello himself.

Performers set to join Tom and Serj Tankian on the festival billing include Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen, Dropkick Murphys, Dave Matthews, Joan Baez, Killer Mike, grandson, Brittany Howard, Jack Black, Matt Cameron, Taylor Momsen, The Linda Lindas, and Darryl “DMC” McDaniels.

With a monumental solo record on the horizon and his son Roman matching him riff-for-riff, Tom Morello is making it clear that the fight against injustice is a lifelong, cross-generational mission.
