Tommy Lee is giving his solo catalog a modern reboot. The Mötley Crüe drummer has released Tommyland Rides Again through BMG, a reworked version of his 2005 solo album Tommyland: The Ride, and the new edition arrives with a fresh video for the bonus track “Stupid World (Feat. Chad Tepper).” The release went live on Friday, May 22, and marks the first time the album is available on digital streaming platforms.
The updated record was newly mixed by Tommy Lee and Smiley Sean at Lee’s own Dolby Atmos-certified studio, giving the album a more immersive sound than it had when it first arrived in 2005. According to the announcement, the new mix was designed to add depth and energy that simply was not possible at the time of the original release.
Lee said the reissue is meant to feel like a return trip into his own creative world. “The cover art invites you to take a ride inside my twisted musical world and experience its new life after 20 years. And in Dolby Atmos,” he said.
That statement fits the whole concept of the release. Tommyland Rides Again is not just a straight remaster. It is being presented as a broader reintroduction of the 2005 album, now positioned for streaming listeners and updated for modern playback systems.
The big addition is “Stupid World,” a brand-new bonus track featuring Chad Tepper, along with a music video. Blabbermouth describes Tepper as a former professional skateboarder and alt-rock artist with more than four million followers, and notes that his 2023 single “Rockstar Dreams Like Tommy Lee” makes the collaboration feel like a natural fit.
The story of Tommyland itself goes back to 2005, when Lee released the original album alongside his book of the same name and the NBC series Tommy Lee Goes To College. At the time, the record reflected Lee’s broad creative range and pulled in collaborators from across rock, pop, and punk.
The original album was produced by Lee and Scott Humphrey, and featured appearances from Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger, Good Charlotte’s Joel Madden, Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter, and others. That lineup helped make Tommyland: The Ride one of the more eclectic solo records tied to a major hard rock figure in the 2000s.
Blabbermouth also places the release in the context of Lee’s long career beyond Mötley Crüe. He is the co-founder and drummer of one of rock’s biggest bands, has starred in several television projects, released multiple solo albums, founded Methods of Mayhem, and kept pushing into different corners of music and entertainment.
There is also more on the horizon. The report says Mötley Crüe’s The Return Of The Carnival Of Sins North American tour, celebrating the band’s 45th anniversary, kicks off in July 2026. In a final bit of fan service, Lee is also making the snare drums and cowbell he uses on the tour available for purchase for the first time. Physical editions of Tommyland Rides Again, including CD and vinyl, are set to arrive on September 18.
