After years of patient waiting since 2019’s Fear Inoculum, Tool fans finally have real reasons to get excited. The progressive metal giants are officially back in action, actively creating new music with a clear target on the horizon.
In a fresh interview with Spiral Out, legendary drummer Danny Carey confirmed the band is deep into the creative process:
“We’re working on a lot of new Tool songs right now. Hopefully 2027, you know, that’s the goal.”
This would mark their first studio album in eight years — and the anticipation is already reaching fever pitch.
But that’s not all. Carey also dropped a bombshell about the band’s live ambitions, revealing they’re in early talks for something truly spectacular: a residency at the Las Vegas Sphere.
“We’re hoping when we release the new record, maybe do a stint at the Sphere ’cause I think we’re the perfect band for that. We’ve been talking to those guys.”
The Sphere’s mind-bending visuals and immersive audio technology would be an absolute perfect match for Tool’s atmospheric, visually intense live experience. Fans have been dreaming of this combination for years, and now it feels closer than ever.
Tool has always operated on their own timeline, refusing to rush the art — and that patience has consistently paid off with masterpieces. A 2027 album paired with a Sphere residency could easily become one of the biggest rock events of the decade. If they pull this off, it will be a landmark moment that redefines what a modern progressive rock spectacle can be. The hype is real, and the wait suddenly feels electric.
