Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil has confirmed that the stroke he suffered around Christmas 2024, which raised concerns about his ability to continue touring, was actually one of four strokes he’s experienced over recent years.
Speaking in a new interview with Eddie Trunk on SiriusXM, Neil described waking up one morning unable to move his left arm and left leg. He said:
“I woke up and I couldn’t get out of bed. I’m like, ‘What’s going on?’ And my left leg wouldn’t work, and my left arm wouldn’t work. So I had to get help out of bed.”
A clot in his left leg had apparently travelled up to his brain. Because the symptoms were already advanced when help arrived, medication couldn’t reverse the damage. Over several months of rehab, Neil’s recovery was gradual: first from wheelchair, then to walker, then cane, and now he can walk. He says for about five months things were unpredictable.
Looking back, he revealed that two of the strokes were so mild he didn’t realize they were strokes at all. One knocked out feeling in his hand temporarily. The others are vague to him—he remembers little or nothing about them, but believes they happened.
Now, Neil says he’s “95 percent good” amid Motley Crue’s ongoing Las Vegas residency. He admits there are still things he struggles with onstage — like running back and forth across the stage, which he says is huge — but he’s getting his strength back.
The band will continue the rest of their Las Vegas shows: dates on September 24, September 26–27, and October 1 & 3.
