Watch Foo Fighters Perform “Child Actor” Live on SNL

Foo Fighters used their recent appearance on Saturday Night Live UK to introduce “Child Actor” to a live audience, and the performance has now been circulating online. The moment, recorded during the band’s latest TV appearance, catches the group in a stripped-down but forceful setting that fits the way they have been rolling out this new chapter.

Fronted by Dave Grohl, the band turned “Child Actor” into something bigger and harder-hitting than the studio version. In the live setting, the song loses a bit of polish and gains urgency, driven by guitars and a tight rhythm section that makes the track feel immediate rather than slick. It is the kind of performance that reminds people why Foo Fighters still work so well onstage: they know how to make newer material feel like it belongs in a live set right away.

The SNL UK appearance also marked a notable live moment for the song itself. Radio X reported that “Child Actor” made its live debut on the show, with Foo Fighters also performing “Caught in the Echo” during the same appearance. The episode was hosted by Nicola Coughlan, and the band even took part in the opening monologue, which included a cameo from Jimmy Fallon.

That broader appearance fit into a busy stretch for the band. Radio X noted that the performance came just days after Foo Fighters crashed their own album launch party in London, where they celebrated the release of their 12th studio album and kept the momentum around the new record moving.

Society of Rock framed the performance as part of Foo Fighters’ ongoing push into a fresh era, arguing that the band remains one of rock’s most dependable live acts. That point is hard to miss here: even decades into their career, Foo Fighters still look most alive when they are on a stage, turning a new song into something that feels immediate and real.

The message from the performance is simple. Foo Fighters are not just revisiting the past or leaning on the old hits. They are still building, still testing new songs in public, and still making the case that their music hits hardest when a crowd is in front of them. “Child Actor” may be new, but the band’s live instincts are anything but.
