Watch Megadeth’s New “Let There Be Shred” Video Ahead of Farewell Record

Thrash metal legends Megadeth have released the official music video for “Let There Be Shred,” the third single from their upcoming self-titled final studio album, due out January 23, 2026. The new video combines the band’s signature high-speed riffs with striking visuals and personal touches that nod to frontman Dave Mustaine’s early days in martial arts and metal.

New Single and Visuals

“Let There Be Shred” dropped as a single on December 19, 2025, and its accompanying video premiered simultaneously, giving fans a look at one of the standout tracks from what will be Megadeth’s seventeenth and final album.

The video — which is available on Megadeth’s official YouTube channel — blends performance footage of the band with scenes of intense mixed martial arts action, featuring Mustaine himself participating in sequences alongside fighters.

A Tribute to Roots

Mustaine has described the video as a celebration of his early influences both in music and in physical training. In statements shared with press, he said the shoot was “a blast to make” and framed the concept as a tribute to his first teachers, including martial arts icons Benny “The Jet” Urquidez and Reggie Almieda. These elements tie into the title’s double meaning — nodding both to guitar shredding and combat discipline.

Musically, “Let There Be Shred” embodies the band’s classic aggressive style, pairing rapid-fire guitar work with the thunderous energy fans expect from Megadeth. The track continues the momentum begun by earlier releases from the album, including “Tipping Point” and “I Don’t Care.”

Context and Final Album

The self-titled Megadeth album — the band’s first with guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari and only with bassist James LoMenzo since Endgame — was announced in August 2025 and will serve as the group’s farewell studio record.

In addition to “Let There Be Shred,” the album’s known tracklist includes songs such as “Hey, God?!,” “Puppet Parade,” and others that trace both the band’s thrash heritage and their willingness to innovate even at this late stage.

Fans and Farewell

Alongside the album rollout, Megadeth plans an extensive farewell tour that will span 2026 and beyond, allowing fans worldwide to experience these final songs live. The band has also announced immersive listening events tied to the new record, giving devotees a deeper connection to the music before the full release.

With “Let There Be Shred,” Megadeth continues to deliver the ferocity and technical mastery that defined their career — now as they prepare to bring their legendary run to a close.
