As the world mourns the loss of Ozzy Osbourne, who passed away at the age of 76, tributes are pouring in from across the rock community. At the O2 Arena in London, actor and musician Johnny Depp joined Alice Cooper onstage to perform Black Sabbath’s legendary track ‘Paranoid’, honoring the late icon in front of thousands of fans. Depp, a member of the Hollywood Vampires alongside Cooper, stayed on for a performance of Cooper’s own hit ‘School’s Out’.
The emotional performance followed Tuesday’s announcement of Ozzy’s passing. In a heartfelt statement, his family said:
“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”
Born John Michael Osbourne on December 3, 1948, in England, Ozzy co-founded Black Sabbath in 1968 with Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward, helping pioneer the sound of heavy metal. Despite controversy and chaos throughout his life, his influence on music is undeniable.
Sabbath was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, and Ozzy finally earned his own solo induction in 2024. A five-time Grammy winner and 12-time nominee, he also received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Grammys in 2019.
Ozzy Osbourne was more than a rock star — he was a force of nature who changed the face of music forever.
