Two weeks after his passing, the world now knows what ended the life of rock’s wildest warrior.
According to his death certificate, Ozzy Osbourne died of a heart attack, officially listed as out-of-hospital cardiac arrest and acute myocardial infarction. The report, obtained by The New York Times, also notes that coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction were contributing factors.
Ozzy passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, at the age of 76, inside his Buckinghamshire home, surrounded by the people he loved most. After a lifetime of surviving the unthinkable—from addiction battles to ATV crashes to decades of hard living—it was his heart that finally gave out.
Ozzy had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2019, and in the years that followed, his health struggles became more public. He underwent spinal surgery, endured chronic pain, and canceled multiple tours. Still, he refused to go quietly. Just weeks before his death, on July 5, Ozzy returned to the stage in Birmingham for one final performance—his last reunion with Black Sabbath’s original lineup. For fans, it was both a gift and a goodbye.
Ten days after his passing, thousands gathered in Birmingham to say farewell to their hometown legend. A memorial procession led to the Black Sabbath bench and bridge—monuments to a man who helped invent heavy metal and shattered every rule along the way.
Ozzy’s voice may be silent now, but his spirit lives on in every screaming riff, every dark lyric, and every outcast who ever felt heard through his music.
He may be gone, but the Prince of Darkness still reigns.
