“You Won’t Catch Me Making Fking Bread”: Gallagher on His Inspirations

Liam Gallagher has never been one to hide his love for rock ‘n’ roll excess.

While he’s toned it down over the years and now takes a more professional approach to performing, his rebellious spirit remains intact.

These days, Gallagher abstains from even having a beer before hitting the stage, but he continues to channel the same rock star energy that has always defined his career.

Though many rock legends met untimely ends, Liam is enjoying a strong second act, with his voice sounding better than it has in over a decade.

However, not everyone manages to balance rock ‘n’ roll hedonism and professionalism, and Gallagher himself acknowledges that he’s lucky to have survived his wild years.

One rock icon who didn’t fare as well is Keith Moon, the legendary drummer of The Who, whom Gallagher considers the ultimate rock star.

Moon’s life was as chaotic as his drumming. Famous for his wild antics, one of the most notorious stories involves his 21st birthday party, where he drove a Lincoln Continental into a swimming pool, leaving The Who with a hefty bill and a lifetime ban from the Holiday Inn.

Moon was known for living fast, with tales of his reckless behavior becoming the stuff of rock ‘n’ roll legend.

According to Alice Cooper, the public only knows a fraction of the madness, claiming, “Everything you’ve ever heard about Keith Moon is true, and you’ve only heard a tenth of it.”

Moon’s life came to a tragic end in 1978 due to an overdose of prescription drugs, cutting his career short.

Despite his early death, Moon’s name has been forever etched into the annals of music history, with his drumming and larger-than-life personality leaving an indelible mark on rock ‘n’ roll.

In a 2019 interview with Forbes, Liam Gallagher praised Moon’s musical talent and wild lifestyle, stating, “Keith Moon. He knew how to play the drums, and he knew how to party.”

Gallagher compared Moon to other famous rock stars but noted that, unlike some who mellowed out later in life, Moon never lost his edge. Liam added humorously, “You won’t catch me making f**king bread at any point.”

Gallagher has spoken about his admiration for Moon several times over the years.

In a 2017 interview with The Guardian, when asked who he’d invite to his dream dinner party, Moon made the list alongside John Lennon, Nigella Lawson, Steve Coogan, and Peter Sellers.

Gallagher also holds The Who in high regard and supported them during a North American tour in 2019.

Though Moon has been gone for decades, his bandmates have worked hard to preserve his legacy, ensuring his legendary status only grows with time.
