After a long wait, The Black Crowes are back with fresh music and big plans for 2026. The veteran rock band has just released two new tracks — “Profane Prophecy” and “Pharmacy Chronicles” — marking their first new material since 2023’s Happiness Bastards and offering an early taste of what’s coming next.
Both songs serve as previews of the band’s upcoming studio album, A Pound of Feathers, which is set for release on March 13, 2026. Produced once again by Jay Joyce, who also worked on earlier material, the new tracks showcase The Black Crowes’ blend of blues-infused rock energy with evocative songwriting that has defined their career.
Guitarist Rich Robinson explained that the creative process for this record came together in a more spontaneous way than their previous work. Instead of arriving at the studio with finished songs, the band embraced the recording process itself as a writing tool. “We had less time, which I like, because we decided to use the studio as a writing tool,” Robinson said, noting that this approach helped keep the band’s energy fresh and unfiltered.
Rich recalled sending frontman Chris Robinson nearly 40 song ideas, from which the lead singer selected those he wanted to work on. This “on the fly” method, he says, helped avoid overthinking and injected a natural excitement into the sessions. “We just went in, we did it, and it came out great,” he said.
The newly released tracks set contrasting tones for what fans can expect on the full album. “Profane Prophecy” delivers rugged rock swagger and lyrical grit, while “Pharmacy Chronicles” leans into more reflective storytelling. Both songs are available now and offer a first glimpse at a body of work that promises to balance intensity with emotional depth.
These songs mark The Black Crowes’ first major output since Happiness Bastards, their first album of new material in several years. Producer Jay Joyce’s return suggests continuity in the band’s evolving sound, blending classic rock roots with contemporary energy.
What’s Next for The Black Crowes in 2026
Once A Pound of Feathers arrives in March, The Black Crowes won’t be slowing down. They have a busy year ahead, starting with a string of headlining tour dates beginning April 2 in Melbourne, Australia, including performances in Japan and more international stops.
In addition to their own shows, the band is scheduled to join Guns N’ Roses for several dates on that legendary band’s 2026 North American tour — a pairing Robinson says he’s genuinely excited about. He noted that the groups have crossed paths before, including sharing the stage with Slash at a benefit concert, and he’s looking forward to more road time together.
Pre-orders for A Pound of Feathers are already live on the band’s official website, giving fans a chance to lock in a copy ahead of its March release. With new music, global touring, and major support dates on the horizon, 2026 is shaping up to be one of the most active years in The Black Crowes’ long and storied career.
