AC/DC Guitarist Stevie Young Hospitalized in Buenos Aires Ahead of Tour Shows

Stevie Young, the rhythm guitarist for legendary Australian rock band AC/DC, has been hospitalized in Buenos Aires, Argentina just days before the group’s upcoming concerts as part of their “Power Up” world tour.

Hospitalization and Medical Evaluation

Young, 69, was admitted to a local hospital after feeling unwell upon arrival in Buenos Aires, according to statements shared by the band’s representatives and event promoters.

Medical staff admitted Young “out of an abundance of caution” and he is currently undergoing a full series of medical tests to determine the cause of his symptoms. While specific details about his condition have not been disclosed, a spokesperson for the band confirmed that he is in good spirits and maintaining a positive outlook during the evaluation.

Tour Schedule and Expected Return

AC/DC is scheduled to perform three sold-out concerts at Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires on March 23, 27 and 31, 2026, as part of the band’s international Power Up tour. These shows mark AC/DC’s first performances in Argentina since 2009.

Despite the hospitalization, band representatives have indicated that Young is expected to recover in time to rejoin AC/DC on stage for the scheduled concerts if his health permits.

Context: AC/DC’s Touring and Legacy

AC/DC is one of rock music’s most influential bands, with a career spanning more than five decades. Stevie Young, a nephew of founding member Malcolm Young, has played rhythm guitar for AC/DC since 2014, stepping into the role after Malcolm retired due to health issues.

The Power Up tour follows the band’s 2020 album of the same name, which was released in tribute to Malcolm Young. The group has continued to perform globally despite lineup changes and the passing of original members.

Health and Touring Considerations

While the exact reason for Young’s hospitalization has not been publicly detailed, event organizers and the band’s spokesperson have emphasized that the decision to admit him to hospital was precautionary and intended to ensure his well‑being. They reiterated that Young is doing well and looking forward to performing if cleared by doctors.
