Phil Collins has dropped to No. 2 in the 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame fan vote, marking a shift in the ongoing public voting process. He initially led the fan vote by a significant margin after nominations were announced, collecting more than 230,000 votes early on and placing comfortably ahead of other nominees. At that stage, he was followed by New Edition and P!nk, with Collins holding a clear lead.
As voting has continued and more participation has come in, the rankings have changed. New Edition has now moved into the top position, pushing Collins down to second place. Other artists currently near the top of the leaderboard include Luther Vandross, Billy Idol, INXS and Sade, reflecting a wide mix of genres competing for votes. More than 2.5 million votes have already been cast, showing strong engagement from the public.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame fan vote allows fans to select their preferred nominees, but its impact on the final outcome is limited. The top five artists in the fan vote are combined into a single ballot, which is then counted alongside roughly 1,200 ballots submitted by industry professionals, historians and artists. As a result, leading the fan vote does not guarantee induction.
Collins is already a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee as a member of Genesis, who were inducted in 2010. This nomination represents his first opportunity to be inducted as a solo artist, making his position in the fan vote particularly notable.
Voting is expected to continue into early April, and rankings may continue to shift before the final results are confirmed. The official Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2026 is expected to be announced later in April, with the induction ceremony scheduled to take place in the fall.
