Saxon frontman Biff Byford has confirmed that the band’s 25th studio album is set for release on Friday, January 22, 2027, giving fans their clearest timetable yet for the follow-up to 2024’s Hell, Fire and Damnation. He revealed the date during an appearance on France’s Last Ride podcast, calling it an exclusive announcement.
Byford also laid out the rollout plan for the record. According to his comments, fans will be able to pre-order the album in early September 2026, and the first single is expected to arrive in September as well, along with a video. He said the single may also be issued as a 7-inch vinyl release.
The new album has already been completed and mixed. Back in January 2026, Byford told fans in a social media update that recording was done and that longtime Saxon producer Andy Sneap had finished mixing the record. Sneap has worked on or co-produced the band’s last five studio albums, stretching back to 2013’s Sacrifice and continuing through Hell, Fire and Damnation.
Saxon’s next album will follow Hell, Fire and Damnation, which was released in January 2024 and marked the band’s 24th studio album. That release continued Saxon’s long run as one of heavy metal’s most durable acts, and this upcoming project keeps that momentum going into 2027.
The album announcement also fits into a bigger period of activity for the band. Byford had previously said Saxon was already writing new material in 2025, and that the group expected to move toward recording later in the year. The latest update confirms that the band stayed on schedule and has now locked in the release window.
Saxon, one of the defining names from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, has sold about 23 million albums over its career and remains active on the road. Their current lineup still centers on Byford, with the band continuing to perform live while preparing the new record.
What stands out most here is the precision of the announcement: a January 22, 2027 album date, September 2026 pre-orders, and a September single launch. For Saxon fans, that means the countdown to the next chapter has officially started.
