Riley Green is fully lean-stepping into the chaos of his latest summer anthem with the official music video for “Think As You Drunk”. Directed by Wes Edwards, the riotous visual companion captures a night packed with wild antics, a special cameo from his beloved dog Carl, and a heartfelt, full-circle tribute to the late country legend Toby Keith.
Filmed partly at Green’s own “Duck Blind” bar in Midtown Nashville, the video highlights the singer-songwriter’s willingness to poke fun at himself while offering a cinematic nod to classic country music tropes.
Stumbling Through the Chaos
The music video opens with a wide shot of the Duck Blind bar before a heavily intoxicated Green staggers inside. When the bartender cuts him off, Green immediately fires back with a classic line: “Just who the hell do you think you are? I pay the light bill in this bar.”
From there, his blurred vision takes over. He confidently raises a glass to what he thinks is a beautiful blonde woman, only to realize he’s actually flirting with an older woman on a motorized scooter with a cigarette in hand.
The comedy continues when Green finally stumbles home to convince his significant other that he is perfectly fine, slurring the song’s signature hook: “I ain’t as think as you drunk I am.” Unimpressed, she kicks him out, prompting Green to drive away on a riding lawnmower—a legendary nod to George Jones’ famous DUI arrest. Even after getting pulled over and failing to prove his sobriety to the responding police officer, Green somehow lands back at the Duck Blind to finish out the tune with a crowd of cheering patrons.
Honoring Toby Keith: A Full-Circle Tribute
“Think As You Drunk” isn’t just a party anthem; it is a profound tribute to one of Green’s biggest musical heroes, Toby Keith. Green co-wrote the track alongside Erik Dylan, Wyatt McCubbin, Jessi Alexander, and Scotty Emerick, crafting the entire song in a lightning-fast 20 minutes.
“The best compliment I can give a song is, ‘Man, this feels like a Toby Keith song,’” Green shared. “Especially as a songwriter, I don’t know if there was a bigger influence on me.”
Because the melody directly mirrors Keith’s 2005 classic “As Good As I Once Was,” Green’s team shared the song with Keith’s family and estate prior to its release.
“They completely thought it was a tip of the cap to Toby, so they wanted to have his vocal on it,” Green explained. “So it’s really a full-circle moment for me to have Toby’s vocal on that song.”
The video closes on a deeply touching note, showing a framed portrait of Keith raising a red Solo cup. Over the frame, Keith’s iconic vocals echo: “May not be good as I once was, but I’m as good once as I ever was.”
