Jane’s Addiction has officially canceled the remainder of their tour following a shocking on-stage fight between frontman Perry Farrell, 65, and guitarist Dave Navarro, 57, during a recent Boston show.
The incident, which took place on Friday, September 13, at the Leader Bank Pavilion, quickly went viral after fans witnessed Farrell swearing into his microphone before throwing a punch at Navarro. Crew members rushed to break up the altercation, and the rest of the concert was abruptly canceled.
Rumors spread rapidly online about what could have caused the sudden clash, leaving fans concerned that this could spell the end for the iconic band behind hits like “Jane Says” and “Been Caught Stealing.” In an official statement posted to social media, Jane’s Addiction confirmed they would be taking an indefinite break.
The statement read: “The band have made the difficult decision to take some time away as a group. As such, they will be cancelling the remainder of the tour.”
Refunds will be issued at the original point of purchase, or fans who bought tickets through third-party platforms like StubHub or SeatGeek were directed to contact them directly.
This news comes as a disappointment to fans, as the Boston show was part of the band’s long-awaited comeback tour, reuniting their original lineup for the first time in 14 years.
However, following the on-stage outburst, many fear this could be the last time the group performs together.
Shortly after the fight, Farrell’s wife, Etty Lau, offered further explanation via social media, revealing that Farrell’s frustration had been building over technical issues throughout the show. Lau explained that Farrell was struggling with tinnitus and a sore throat, and felt that the band’s stage volume was overpowering his voice.
“When fans in the front row started complaining that they couldn’t hear him, Perry lost it,” Lau wrote. She added that Farrell, after screaming to be heard, swung at Navarro out of frustration over the loud stage volume.
Lau also claimed that after the altercation, Farrell was punched in the stomach three times while being removed from the stage, which led to him breaking down afterward.
While Jane’s Addiction has not announced plans for their future as a band, the sudden tour cancellation and internal conflict have left many fans wondering if this could be the end of the road for the legendary rock group.
