Jack Black to Honor Ozzy Osbourne at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction

The renowned “Prince of Darkness” was set to get recognition from this prestigious organization for a second time this year, this time in the capacity as a solo artist. In 2006, Ozzy was inducted alongside Black Sabbath.

The ceremony, scheduled for October 19 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio, will pay tribute to the legendary singer. Jack Black, a self-proclaimed Ozzy superfan and frontman of Tenacious D, will lead the special introduction.

An impressive lineup will perform in honor of the former Black Sabbath frontman, featuring Billy Idol, Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Wolf Van Halen, Steve Stevens, and Metallica’s Robert Trujillo.

Reflecting on his solo induction earlier this year, Ozzy expressed gratitude, stating, “Thank You @RockHall Voters & Fans for this induction. My solo career has been a much larger part of my overall music career, so this feels more special. Not bad for a guy who was fired from his last band.”

With this induction, Ozzy joins an elite group of artists who have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame multiple times, including Eric Clapton, Stevie Nicks, Dave Grohl, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ronnie Wood, Lou Reed, and Curtis Mayfield.

In addition to Ozzy Osbourne, this year’s inductee list includes A Tribe Called Quest, Cher, Mary J. Blige, MC5, Foreigner, and more.
