Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, founding guitarist of Oasis, has revealed that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer earlier in 2025 and is taking a planned break from the band’s Live ’25 reunion tour to undergo treatment.
Arthurs, 60, shared the news in an Instagram post dated October 3, 2025, saying that while he’s “responding really well” to treatment, he must now pause to focus on the next phase of his care. He expressed sadness over missing several shows in Asia and Australia—including Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne, and Sydney—but reassured fans he plans to rejoin Oasis when the tour moves to South America in November.
In his statement, Arthurs wrote:
“Early this year I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. The good news is I’m responding really well to treatment, which meant I could be part of this incredible tour. Now, I am having to take a planned break for the next phase of my care, so I’ll be missing the gigs in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne and Sydney. I’m really sad to be missing these shows but I’m feeling good and will be back ready to go in time for South America. Have an amazing time if you’re going this month and I’ll see you back onstage with the band in November. Bonehead. X”
Oasis as a band reposted his message and added their support via social media:
“Wishing you all the best with your treatment Bonehead – we’ll see you back on stage in South America.”
This is not the first time Arthurs has faced cancer. In 2022, he was diagnosed with tonsil cancer, underwent treatment, and later announced he had been declared cancer-free after successful recovery.
Though he’ll be absent from the Asia-Australia leg of the tour, fans are looking forward to his return. The Live ’25 tour is one of Oasis’ first full reunion tours since their 2009 breakup, and Arthurs has been key to the reformed lineup.
