‘A Slightly Unreal Moment’: Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood Reunite in the Studio for New Solo Project

Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood have reunited in the studio, rekindling their creative partnership as Fleetwood works on his upcoming solo album.

The two musicians, who spent decades together in Fleetwood Mac, have had a complex history. Buckingham joined the band alongside Stevie Nicks in the 1970s, shaping its signature sound. However, tensions led to his departure in 2018 following a fallout with Nicks.

Despite the past conflicts, Buckingham and Fleetwood have maintained a solid personal relationship. Now, they are collaborating once again on Fleetwood’s solo project. Swedish producer Carl Falk, who appears to be leading the production, shared the news on Threads, calling it “a slightly unreal moment” to have the two legends in the studio together.

Falk added, “And to see his genuine happiness for Mick to finally do his own album and offering to play guitar and to sing on it. Can’t wait to finish this one.” He also posted an image of Buckingham in the studio, captioning it: “Mick and Lindsey together again, what a flawless guitar player.”

Adding to the excitement, it appears that Adam Granduciel of The War on Drugs is also involved in the project. Falk shared a separate post featuring Fleetwood and Granduciel, writing, “That’s a wrap The War On Drugs.”

While their collaboration is drawing excitement from fans, Fleetwood recently addressed the lingering tensions between Buckingham and Nicks. Speaking at Steven Tyler’s Janie’s Fund Grammys viewing party on February 2nd, he expressed hope for reconciliation, saying, “I always have a fantasy that [Stevie] and Lindsay would pal up a bit more and just say everything’s OK for them both. But we’ve had such an incredible career.”

Nicks, however, has made her stance clear, stating in a past Rolling Stone interview that she had “dealt” with Buckingham for “as long as I could,” adding, “I gave him more than 300 million chances.”

Despite the history, Fleetwood and Buckingham’s current studio sessions mark an unexpected yet welcome reunion. Fans will undoubtedly be eager to hear what comes out of this latest chapter in their storied musical relationship.
