Bruce Springsteen has once again taken direct aim at Donald Trump, dismissing the former president’s criticisms and making it clear he’s unmoved.
“I absolutely couldn’t care less what he thinks of me,” Springsteen told interviewers when asked about Trump’s jabs. He then added a line that instantly made headlines: “If Congress had any guts, he’d be consigned to the trash heap of history.”
The comments follow Springsteen’s now-famous speech during the opening night of his Land of Hope & Dreams tour in Manchester, where he blasted Trump’s administration as “corrupt, incompetent and treasonous.” Trump quickly fired back on his social media platform, calling Springsteen “highly overrated,” a “pushy, obnoxious JERK,” and mocking both his music and politics.
But Springsteen didn’t stop there. He went further in interviews, calling Trump “the living personification of what the 25th Amendment and impeachment were for.” He also criticized Trump’s supporters, noting that “a lot of people bought into his lies” and accusing Trump of caring only for himself and wealthy donors.
While his words were sharp, Springsteen also expressed frustration with Democrats, saying their messaging often falls flat and fails to connect with everyday Americans. Still, he made it clear that his bigger concern was Trump’s ongoing influence: “The danger is still there — and it’s real.”
At this stage in his career, The Boss isn’t worried about being subtle. As he put it himself: “I don’t give a damn what I do anymore — I’ve earned the right to tell it straight.”
