Ginger Wildheart has made his position on a Wildhearts reunion crystal clear: it is not happening. The frontman responded after former guitarist CJ Wildheart said he had reached out following Ginger’s mantle cell lymphoma diagnosis and would love to bring the classic lineup back together. Ginger’s reply was blunt, posting on X that it was “Never, ever gonna happen.”
Ginger said he is perfectly happy with the current Wildhearts lineup and has no interest in returning to the tension that surrounded the band’s earlier years. He told fans that “nostalgia for a miserable past is insanity,” and said he could not think of anything worse than reuniting with his former bandmates.
He was even more direct when explaining why. Ginger said the current band’s vibe is the opposite of the old one, adding that he would “rather cut my hands off than be that miserable again.” When one fan pointed out that the classic lineup was great onstage, Ginger replied that the problem was what happened offstage. He said the old band was fine for “90 mins a day,” but the rest of the time was misery.
Ginger also called himself “happily married” to the new band and said he has no interest in going back to the ex. His comments leave no room for speculation: whatever reunion hopes some fans may have had, Ginger considers the old chapter closed and the current one much healthier.
