Interpol Announce New Album This Mirror Weighs a Ton – Drop Two New Singles

Post-punk icons Interpol have officially announced their highly anticipated new album, titled This Mirror Weighs a Ton, set for release on August 28, 2026 via Partisan Records.

The band previewed the record by dropping the first two tracks: the haunting title song “This Mirror Weighs a Ton” and the driving “See Out Loud”. The songs showcase two distinct sides of Interpol — one rooted in their classic rhythmic, moody sound and the other diving deeper into darker, emotional territory.

The album was produced by Andrew Wyatt (of Miike Snow), known for his work with artists like Liam Gallagher and Rosalía. Recording took place at Wyatt’s studio in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. According to the band, the new record expands their sonic palette with strings, woodwinds, layered vocal harmonies, acoustic guitar, and experimental sound design, while keeping their signature rhythmic drive and melodic strength intact.

Themes of reflection, perception, and emotional tension run throughout the album. The striking title came directly from singer Paul Banks during an improvisational vocal session.

This feels like a significant moment for Interpol. After years of evolution, they’re blending their classic post-punk DNA with richer, more experimental textures. The contrast between the upbeat “See Out Loud” and the brooding title track suggests a dynamic and emotionally deep record.
