Former Megadeth guitarist Jeff Young says Kings of Thrash has turned into a surprisingly wide-ranging and rewarding project. In a June 6, 2026 interview with Dales Rock Interviews, Young said the group has spent the last three years on what it calls the “Global Thrash” tour, playing everything from Australia and Japan to Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Canada, Europe and more.
Young explained that the band’s touring schedule has been intense, but also deeply satisfying. He said Kings of Thrash has been all over the map and that the reaction has been strong because the group focuses on a different side of Megadeth than the one most casual fans hear live. That means plenty of material from Killing Is My Business… And Business Is Good!, Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying?, and So Far, So Good… So What!, plus some Rust In Peace material.
He also said the band plans to slow down after finishing the current run, because several members have other commitments. Young noted that there are only about 12 or 14 Kings of Thrash shows left on the books, with David Ellefson heading off to Metal Church dates and Young himself preparing a solo album.
A big part of Young’s enthusiasm comes from the setlist. He said the band leans into deep cuts and older Megadeth material that the main band rarely plays, and added that they have been performing So Far, So Good… So What! in its entirety more often lately. He said audiences love it and that it has been especially fun to see fans showing up with the album on vinyl.
The interview also highlighted the latest Kings of Thrash single, “Bullets Ready,” released in early May via Cleopatra Records. The track features a duet with Gabriel Connor of Red Devil Vortex and a guest spot from former Exodus singer Steve “Zetro” Souza, and Young said the project has been both “proud” and “fun” from the start.
