Keith Richards Reveals Mick Jagger Tried To Steal A Song From Him

Mick Jagger and Keith Richards

Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones made an appearance in a brand-new, exclusive Guitar Player interview. The rocker revealed the one song that bandmate Mick Jagger attempted to steal from him while they were talking about the group’s new album, “Hackney Diamonds.”

Keith Richards Got Different Comments About His Voice in the Album

It seems that not only did Richards sing better on the most recent album, but those in his immediate vicinity also noticed. Speaking about their song “Tell Me Straight” from the recently released album, the rock star revealed the criticism he received for his voice.

He said, “Since I gave up smoking in 2019, people have said to me that I sound stronger. A few years back, the sound guys began joking around with us when we went on tour. “Man, your voice—what’s happening?” they exclaimed. Singing feels different now, and I’m having more fun with it.”

Why Did Mick Jagger Try To Steal ‘Tell Me Straight’?

Regarding the song’s theme, the interviewer mentioned that it had a philosophical feel to it that was “part mythic, part hardcore truth.” Richards was very clear in saying that was how he intended it to sound. After the chat, he disclosed that Jagger attempted to pilfer the song for the following reasons.

“Oh, that’s cool. That’s how it kind of happened. These chords emerged once it was on the roller, and everything else seemed to fall into place around it. Mick tried stealing it, so I knew it was getting pretty good! I had to tell him, “Uh-uh.” “I’m taking this one.”

Hackney Diamonds Stadium Tour

To promote their 26th album, The Rolling Stones will be touring once more. The American Association of Retired People, or AARP, is sponsoring the tour, which is scheduled to begin in Houston on April 28, 2024. The band will play songs from their new album along with classic hits in 16 cities in the United States and Canada.
